In case you missed it, the UW men’s basketball team won 68-48 in Pullman to end a seven-game losing streak against Washington.
Back in Seattle, meanwhile, the UW women beat WSU 71-58 to open Pac-10 play.
The men’s win is impressive all the way around, not only because the Huskies ended their streak on the road, but because any road win in Pac-10 play is important, especially a dominant performance like that to kick things off.
The women’s team has a lot to like about the way it played after falling behind early, but the win came at a bit of a price, as starting guard Kristi Kingma went down with a high ankle sprain, and is expected to be out for three weeks. The Huskies are also without reserve guard Sara Mosiman, who also has a sprained ankle, and could be out another three weeks, coach Tia Jackson said.
