No need to amplify patriotic sound

We appreciate the Navy’s presence and the job they do keeping our nation safe. We remain ever thankful for the grave sacrifice our sailors have made fighting for our freedom. We appreciate that the base flag is raised each morning to the patriotic sound of “Morning Colors.”

However, playing the bugle call through an amplified loud speaker system at a volume that can be heard as far away as the Mukilteo ferry dock is not consistent with the peaceful and quiet nature the local neighborhoods have experienced for years and rightfully enjoyed. The Navy has been a good neighbor. Play “Morning Colors,” but please turn off the speakers.
