Aren’t birthday candles annoying? The Buzz notes the birthday of “60 Minutes” commentator Andy Rooney, who is 90 today.

In Rooney’s honor, please imagine the rest of the column being read in his thin, nasally whine.

Why a duck? A $4.2 billion tunnel is the choice to replace the Alaskan Way viaduct in Seattle before it collapses in an earthquake.

It’s a lot of money, but we’d be more concerned that a tunnel along the waterfront would mean that any bailout would require an actual bucket.

Fly me to the moon: Paul Allen has added a replica of SpaceShipOne, the first privately owned craft to reach an altitude of 100 kilometers, to the Flying Heritage Museum at Paine Field.

When you go, be careful; you don’t want to take too deep a whiff of the fumes from the Testor’s plastic model cement.

Batteries not included: Along with Toyota and GM, a few smaller automakers are racing to get electric cars in production. The only problem is the $60,000 to $88,000 price tag.

There are cheaper models available that don’t rely on a gas engine or batteries, but you do have to pedal.
