Roderick won’t coach at Washington

In a bit of odd news today, Utah’s Aaron Roderick, who last week was announced as Washington’s new receivers coach, will instead stay at Utah. Roderick was introduced along with the rest of the coaching staff during Saturday’s basketball game, but he’s since had a change of heart.

“I handled this whole thing badly,” Roderick said in the Utah release. “But I didn’t want to compound my mistakes, when where I really want to be is Utah. This was never about titles and money. This is about doing what is right for me and my family. I love coaching at the University of Utah and I am grateful that Coach Whittingham welcomed me back.”

Sarkisian Announces That Roderick Will Not Be Joining UW Coaching Staff

SEATTLE — Washington head football coach Steve Sarkisian announced today that Aaron Roderick, who was named wide receivers coach last week, will not be joining the UW coaching staff, due to family-related reasons.

The search to fill the ninth of the nine UW football assistant coaching positions will continue.
