Stanwood

Voter registration deadline nears

Voter registration deadlines are approaching for a Stanwood-Camano School District measure that will appear on the March 10 ballot.

The district is asking voters if they want to dissolve the current school board directors’ districts and redraw the boundaries to include four directors’ districts and one at-large director.

It is the only issue in Snohomish County on the March 10 ballot, which will be mailed to the 10,614 Snohomish County voters of the Stanwood-Camano School District beginning Feb. 19. The Stanwood-Camano School District serves residents of both Snohomish and Island County.

Snohomish County conducts all of its elections entirely by mail. There are no polling locations.

Saturday is the last day to make changes to voter registration and the last day to register to vote online or through the mail. First-time voters wanting to vote in the election may register in person at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office through Feb. 23.

In order to register to vote in the state of Washington, a person must be a U.S. citizen, have lived in Washington state for at least 30 days, be at least 18 by Election Day and have had their voting rights restored if they were ever convicted of a felony.

Individuals with a state-issued driver’s license or ID may register to vote online at www.vote.wa.gov. Mail-in voter registration forms can be found online as well. Voter registration forms are also available at local libraries, post offices, and at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office. Mail-in forms must be postmarked by Saturday.

Voters may check their registration status at www.vote.wa.gov.
