Alex Rodriguez went on ESPN and admitted he used steroids after he left Seattle for the Texas Rangers and their $250 million.
While he came clean, he still offered a litany of excuses, including the pressure of the big contract and the summer heat in Texas. Also, there’s the fact that it was so easy to fall on a needle in the Rangers’ clubhouse.
Big boys don’t cry. Parenting columnist Angie Wagner addresses the problem of children who cry just to get attention. Wagner says the best way to deal with crybaby behavior is to pay as little attention to it as possible.

Powering up: The Snohomish County PUD reports that it’s ahead of schedule in acquiring wind power. More than 8 percent of the utility’s power will come from wind this year.
A spokesman said it was surprisingly easy once the PUD harnessed all the hot air coming out of Alex Rodriguez.
In other news, Stephen King’s next novella will be available exclusively for the Kindle, Amazon.com’s $359 electronic reading device. That’s $359 to read a mini-novel during a recession. King truly is the master of horror.
