And the Oscar for Most Gratuitous Violence goes to … Herald film critic Robert Horton runs through his predictions for Oscar winners during tonight’s Academy Awards. Best Picture, Horton says, will likely go to “Slumdog Millionaire,” though he says Oscar voters may try to send a message by picking “Milk.”
Frankly, we don’t care. We don’t understand how the Academy could have overlooked Sylvester Stallone’s 2008 comeback in “Rambo.”

Community Chest: When a lottery prize goes unclaimed in this state some of it goes into a special fund to help businesses. Currently there’s $6 million in the fund, and more could be added with prizes that have yet to be claimed by ticket holders.
The state certainly can use the money, but fair’s fair. Everybody knows that the money ought to go into the middle of the game board to be claimed by the next person to land on Free Parking.
