Let us suggest a new Olympic sport

The way to go
Darrington has had to cope with an unusual amount of snow this winter. It’s even threatened the start of the high school baseball season. So much snow remains on fields, players would have to run in snowshoes.
Not ones to complain, Darrington residents instead are looking to make the most of it and have petitioned the Vancouver Olympic Committee to add snowshoe baseball as an exhibition sport for the 2010 Games.
12 little words: A congressman visiting Everett last week suggested that the way to settle the disputed contract for the U.S. Air Force’s refueling tankers is to split the deal between Boeing and its rival. An aviation analyst agrees: “It’s ugly. It’s stupid. But it may be the way to go,” said Richard Aboulafia.
Aboulafia may not realize it, but he’s struck on the 12 words most fitting for every choice local, state and national leaders will have to make in coming months: It’s ugly. It’s stupid. But it may be the way to go.
Multiple choice: The state may scrap about 65,000 WASL exam booklets because it doesn’t want to dole out the money to administer and score the exams.
Let’s at least get some entertainment value out of them and require all lawmakers and officials to take the test. It’ll be ugly. It’ll be stupid. But it’s the way to go.
