Links for a good cause

Before I get on to some basketball-related links, a heads up that fans attending tonight’s game can (and should) buy a bracelet to support Andrew Moritz. For those unfamiliar with Moritz, he’s a former UW basketball walk-on who is now battling a rare cancer called desmoplastic small round cell cancer.
You can read more about Moritz and his battle on this blog his family has set up.
Proceeds of bracelet sales go towards Moritz’s medical expenses, and also help pay for plane tickets to and from Houston where he is going through treatment, renting an apartment and car in Houston while doing chemotherapy, and helping him to pay for bills, groceries, etc.
OK, on to some basketball links:
Here’s my story in today’s Herald looking at today’s first-place showdown with the Sun Devils. Also in today’s paper is this story by Rich Myhre, who talked with Lorenzo Romar earlier this week about the turnaround of the program after two down years. And since I didn’t get around to linking to it yesterday, here’s a story from Wednesday about Quincy Pondexter, who has been playing his best basketball as a Husky in the last three weeks.
The Arizona Republic has this story looking at tonight’s game from an ASU angle. The story mentions how Justin Dentmon and Isaiah Thomas combined for 55 points in a win in Tempe, and includes this great quote from Jeff Pendergraph, talking about Washington’s small, quick guards:
“They have two or three guys that are under 6-feet,” Pendergraph said. “Whenever I see guys who are that little, it gives me nightmares, because all they do is zoom right by me.”
And finally, I failed to mention earlier this week that for ticketholders looking for something to do before the 8 p.m. tipoff, the UW Alumni Association is hosting a
Husky Hoops Jump Start event at the Don James Center in Husky Stadium. Here are the details from the Alumni Association:
