MOUNT VERNON — Shorecrest kept its hopes alive of making the 3A state tournament by defeating Glacier Peak 63-49 Tuesday night in a 3A District 1 loser-out game.

Shorecrest’s victory came after Glacier Peak took both regular season meetings from the Scots.

“We just put together a really solid game,” Shorecrest coach Brian Fischer said. “It was nice to rise to the challenge.”

Shorecrest moves on to play Mount Vernon at Mount Vernon High School at 6 p.m. Thursday in a loser-out game. If Shorecrest wins, it will play the loser of the 3A District 1 championship game between Meadowdale and Lynnwood for the district’s final seed to state.

“I feel like we’re looking eye to eye with the teams we are playing against,” Fischer said. “We feel very confident with our chances.”

Fischer said his team did a good job defensively on Glacier Peak’s solid guard play. He said between Nick Persha, Brandon Hill and Drew Cummins, they usually account for about 36 points per game for Glacier Peak. The three totaled 15 points on Tuesday

“We really did a nice job against their guards,” Fischer said.

“Glacier Peak is a great shooting team, but for the most part we were able to hold them to one and done,” Fisher added, referring to his team’s ability to hold Glacier Peak to one shot.

Shorecrest was led by Ryan Dodge with 18 points, 14 of which came in the first half. Devon Kiser led Glacier Peak with 16.
