Army 1st Lt. Erik Nystrom currently is serving in Iraq. He is the grandson of Nellie Harris of Everett and the son of Rex and Jennifer Nystrom, formerly of Marysville. The officer was home-schooled in Lake Stevens and Marysville. He graduated in 2007 from Central Washington University and the Reserve Officer Training Corps. His wife, Autumn, is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
Air Force Airman David Y. Yi has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Joanna and Jae Yi of Everett. Yi is a 2007 graduate of Kamiak High School.
Air Force Airman Jason J. Gill has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Joseph and Susan Gill of Everett and a 2005 graduate of Cascade High School.
Air Force Airman Robert J. Engle has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Margaret Fowler of Everett and a 2006 graduate of Cascade High School.
Air National Guard Airman Tiffany Shore has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the niece of Gina Belt of Edmonds.
Air Force Airman Cortney R. Whitcher has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman earned distinction as an honor graduate. She is the daughter of Donald Whitcher of Stanwood and Laurie Andriesen of Camano Island. The airman is a 2008 graduate of Stanwood High School.
Air Force Airman Michael C. Walter has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Chris Walter and grandson of Ken McClure of Oak Harbor. The airman is a 2007 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Navy Seaman Eugene K. Capuli, son of Epifania and Crisostomo Capuli of Marysville, basic training at Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Capuli is a 2002 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Navy Seaman David A. Martinez, son of Martha and Jose Martinez of Lake Stevens, was recently promoted to his current rank after graduating from training at Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Martinez received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Martinez is a 2004 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
