The Seattle Sounders FC on Tuesday announced the signing of former Edmonds-Woodway High School and University of Washington soccer standout Kevin Forrest.
Forrest, a 24-year-old forward, has been added to the roster as a senior developmental player.
Drafted by the Colorado Rapids with the third pick in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft, Forrest appeared in one reserve division match for the Rapids. He played nine regular-season games while on loan to the USL-1 Seattle Sounders.
The Rapids waived their rights to Forrest last week.
“Kevin Forrest is a versatile player who can play up front and also play wide,” Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid said. “He has a history of scoring goals at the collegiate level and we suspect he’ll continue (to do that) in the pros.”
During his time at Washington, Forrest was a three-time All-Pac-10 selection. As a junior in 2006, he scored a league-leading 16 goals and was voted Pac-10 Player of the Year. He ranks eighth in school history with 34 goals.
