STANWOOD — Not content with hitting Stanwood’s first-ever home run over a newly installed outfield fence, senior Jordan Nemo also scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Nemo batted 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three runs scored as Stanwood edged Marysville-Pilchuck 4-3 in a Wesco North softball contest at Stanwood High School Monday.

“If you look at the line score, they’d score and then we’d answer,” Stanwood head coach Cherlyn Schander said. “…We hung in there and didn’t give up.”

Sam Bingham batted 3-for-3 for Stanwood and Corinne Stilman batted 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Pitcher Brittany Jeans improved to 5-0 on the season, striking out 10 Marysville Pilchuck batters and issuing just two walks.

Nemo tied the score at 1-1 with a home run over Stanwood’s newly installed outfield fence in the first inning.

With the scored tied 3-3 in the seventh, Nemo hit a double, advanced on a sacrifice and scored on a fielder’s choice when Stillman made contact with the ball.

Stanwood improved to 3-0 in league and 6-0 overall. M-P fell to 2-2 in league and 4-2 overall.

Boys soccer

Shorecrest 4, Mountlake Terrace 2: At Edmonds, Shorecrest’s Glenn Paden scored in the 36th and 56th minutes, Eli Blauser added a goal in the 13th minute and an assist in the 20th minute and Shorecrest took the non-conference victory. Co-captain Garrett Musar also added a goal for Shorecrest (6-1 overall) and Michael Harris assisted on two goals. Jonathan Alvarez scored both of Mountlake Terrace’s goals off assists from brother Maniz Alvarez. Terrace (3-3-1) started Ben Winters in goal. Shorecrest’s goalkeeper was Eric Baker.

Shorewood 6, Lynnwood 0: At Shoreline, Sam Olson scored in the 17th and 34th minutes, Safaa Al Jelhawai scored in the 37th and 39th minutes and Shorewood (6-0-1 overall) easily took the non-conference game. Shorewood also received goals from Sahill Kahn and Riley Brindle and three assists from Essa Jallow. Dorian Lair recorded the shutout in goal. Lynnwood (0-7-0) started Emiliano Suarez in goal.

Kamiak 4, Mariner 1: At Mukilteo, Clayton Dubin scored two goals and assisted on another for Kamiak, scoring in the sixth minute off a Bryton Rein feed and the Knights’ last goal in the 58th minute unassisted in the Wesco South contest. Spencer Kienholz scored on a Dubin assist in the 20th minute, Brian Bae was assisted by Zach Faller and Kamiak (2-5-0) goalkeepers Austin Porter and Caleb Smith allowed one goal by Mariners’ (1-6-0) Bello Ibrahim in the 73rd minute.

Marysville-Pilchuck 2, Stanwood 0: At Stanwood, John Crenshaw scored in the first minute off an assist from Elwood Sevon and Marysville-Pilchuck (5-0-2 league and overall) took the Wesco North victory. Kevin Chavez added a goal in the 67th minute and Kyle Bluhm recorded the shutout in goal. The keeper for Stanwood (0-7-1, 0-7-1) was not reported.
