EVERETT — Here’s a crime tip for burglars: Next time you break into an apartment to steal belongings, make you don’t drop your cell phone.
Roommates in an Everett apartment came home on Jan. 3 to find their jewelry, computers and other valuables missing. About a week later while they were cleaning, they found a cell phone, according to a search warrant filed Tuesday in Everett District Court.
Some easy sleuthing determined that the last call made on the phone was to their neighbor, the warrant said. The neighbor said the phone belonged to some friends who had visited the day of the burglary.
Police used the phone to identify two suspects in the burglary, both of whom have extensive criminal histories, the warrant said.
Court records do not indicate that the suspects have been arrested.
