Froese continues to shine

Everett’s Byron Froese tallied two more assists at the U-18 World Championships on Monday as Canada rallied to beat the Czech Republic 4-3 in overtime. One of his two assists came on Brett Connolly’s overtime winner.

Froese is now tied for the team lead in scoring with six points in three games, and he leads Canada in plus/minus at +6. I’m really starting to question my talent evaluation abilities for wondering whether he was going to make Everett’s team during training camp last September.

Froese also is finally starting to get some attention from outside Everett as Guy Flaming, a known hockey prospect commentator in Canada, gave him a nice write up Monday. The fact Froese is outperforming teammates slated to go in the first round of this year’s NHL draft makes me wonder just how high his draft stock could potentially rise.
