MARYSVILLE — Marysville-Pilchuck blanked Lake Stevens 4-0 in a Wesco North boys soccer game Tuesday night to remain unbeaten on the season.
Marysville-Pilchuck didn’t waste any time getting on the board with Brady Ballew (Kevin Chavez assist) scoring in the third minute.
“We had to kind of match them a little bit physically because they were being pretty physical with us,” M-P coach Geoff Kittle said.
In the 29th minute, Seth Jones (Tyler Miller assist) scored to give the Tomahawks a 2-0 lead that they would take into halftime.
Chavez (Elwood Savon assist), and John Crenshaw (Emmanuel Moreno assist) added second-half goals for Marysville (7-0-2 league, 7-0-2 overall), in the 63rd minute and 70th minute, respectively.
“I thought our guys defended really well,” Kittle said. “We put a lot of pressure on the ball and kept them from getting any rhythm.”
Kittle credited his goalkeeper, Kyle Bluhm, for making some good saves and said Lake Stevens missed some chances.
“They struggled to finish,” Kittle said. “It think it could have been closer.”
Michael Pierce was in goal for Lake Stevens (6-3-0, 6-3-0).
Arlington 5, Everett 0: At Arlington, Robert O’Day scored a hat trick to lead Arlington to the Wesco North win. O’Day (Jake Smith assist) opened the scoring in the first half and Juan Guadarrama assisted on O’Day’s second goal in the half. In the second half, Andy Henderson and Smith scored goals before O’Day (Christian Hernandez assist) earned his third goal before the final whistle. Arlington’s (6-3 league and overall) Cory Ferris earned his second shutout in a row in goal. Everett’s (0-8) goalkeeper was not reported.
Monroe 3, Oak Harbor 2: At Oak Harbor, Oak Harbor got on the board first when Kevin Flavin scored in the 14th minute, but Monroe tied the score just before halftime on a Jake Creager (Drew Hopkins assist) goal in the 37th minute. In the second half, Jorge Avila (Danny Barajas assist) scored in the 44th minute in his first game on Monroe’s varsity team. Justin VanPelt (Flavin and Ryan Fakkema assist) tied it in the 65th minute for Oak Harbor, but Drew Hopkins put Monroe ahead for good in the 74th minute. Jack O’Neill was in goal for Oak Harbor (3-5-0 league, 3-5-0 overall) and had a penalty kick save in the 76th minute. Miles Garman was in goal for Monroe (4-4-0, 4-4-0).
Snohomish 4, Cascade 0: At Everett, Thomas Sheets scored the first goal in the 27th minute to put Snohomish up for good in the Wesco North game. The Panthers (8-1-1 in league and overall) then unleashed an offensive attack with Daryn English (40th minute), Brendon Gundry (47th minute) and Conner Moe (49th minute) all scoring within the last minute of the first half and the first 10 minutes of the second half. Cody Melander and Levi Quinn split time in goal for Snohomish while Nick Morley had goalkeeper duties for Cascade (3-6).
Shorewood 1, Edmonds-Woodway 1: At Shoreline, Shorewood and Edmonds-Woodway played to a Wesco South tie. Ansel Kohler (Eugene Lair assist) scored Shorewood’s goal in the 10th minute, Max Doolittle scored in the 64th minute for Edmonds-Woodway. Dorian Lair was in goal for Shorewood (0-1-1 league, 6-1-2 overall) as was Nick Kratzke for Edmonds (0-1-1, 4-4-1).
Mountlake Terrace 3, Lynnwood 0: At Lynnwood, Jonathan Alvarez recorded a hat trick for Mountlake Terrace in the Wesco South match. Alvarez scored in the 24th minute, 37th (Manix Alvarez assist) and 78th (Alvarez assist). Ben Winters picked up the shutout in goal for the Hawks (1-0 league, 4-3-1 overall). Shane Gersbach took the loss in goal for Lynnwood (0-2, 0-8).
Meadowdale 3, Mariner 2: At Edmonds, Mariner’s Bello Ibrahim scored the first two goals of the Wesco South contest, but Meadowdale roared back to score three unanswered goals. Daniel Kwon scored in the 50th minute unassisted, Jack Gold (Luke Dempsey assist) scored in the 63rd minute, and Kwon (Gold assist) scored the game winner in the 79th minute. Mariner’s (0-1-0 league, 1-7-0 overall) goalie was Tony Carulla and Meadowdale’s (1-1-0, 3-6-0) goalie was Kenneth Hill.
Kamiak 3, Glacier Peak 0: At Mukilteo, Kamiak got goals from Zach Faller (Tyler Hockinson assist) in the 16th minute, Clayton Dubin in the 41st minute, and Hockinson (Spencer Kienholz assist) in the 53rd minute. Jimmy Eschrich started the game in goal for Glacier Peak (1-1-0 league, 5-4-0 overall), Jack Bonner later relieved him. Austin Torter was in goal for Kamiak (2-0-0, 4-5-0).
South Whidbey 2, Lakewood 1: At Langley, Grant Neubauer (Noah Moeller assist) scored the game-winning goal for South Whidbey in the 60th minute of a Cascade Conference match. Joseph Hawkins (Craig Hooks assist) gave Lakewood (4-4 league, 6-4 overall) the lead in the eighth minute before Dino Michaelides (Kevin Rookstool assist) tied the score for South Whidbey (2-5, 3-6) before the half. Ian Marsanyi and Keegan Harshman played in goal for South Whidbey. James Hoback was in goal for Lakewood.
Archbishop Murphy 3, Granite Falls 1: At Everett, Ian Houts scored two goals to help lead Archbishop Murphy to a Cascade Conference win. Houts (Alexis Magana assist) scored in the 10th minute and added his second goal (Erik Schmidt assist) in the 78th minute. Schmidt (Eric McAnaugh assist scored in the 20th minute for the Wildcats (7-0 league, 8-1 overall). Matt Johns scored on a free kick in the 18th minute for Granite Falls (1-7, 2-8). Doug Ehlebracht was the goalkeeper for Archbishop Murphy. Kevin Ahrens was in goal for Granite Falls.
