Sore muscle car: Collectors of classic cars, such as the Pontiac GTO, are of two minds when it comes to the recent announcement that GM would close out the Pontiac brand: It’s sad, but it makes classic Pontiacs more valuable, the collectors say.
Then again, how many Yugos do you see at classic car shows?
I believe that children are our future: Although many say it’s a good idea, Washington state doesn’t require that high school students take a financial literacy course, and those schools that offer such classes as an elective may soon cancel them as part of budget cuts.
But example being the best teacher, students are learning one important lesson about how to handle finances and budget deficits: Ignore it and leave it for your kids to figure out.
Where the wild things hike: The Everett Public Library and the Washington Trails Association have scheduled a workshop Wednesday night offering tips and book suggestions about hiking with kids.
Here’s our tip for motivating a tyke hiker who complains and wants to know “Are we there yet?” Use this reply: “Oh, I’d hate to leave you behind for the wild ravenous snipes. Their ears are very good at picking up the whines of small children.”
