Edmonds: Bingo supports senior center

Support the South County Senior Center and play bingo at the same time next week at the center’s Friends and Family Bingo Night, starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Prizes include a free rental of the senior center for a special event, a tour of Pike Place Market for 10 people and other items. Tickets are $20 at the door, or $16 in advance. A second bingo night is planned for June 8. The center is located at 220 Railroad Ave. in Edmonds.

Edmonds: Help save the Rose House

Supporters of the historic turn-of-the-century house at 555 Main St. in downtown Edmonds are hosting a plant sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The sale will feature hundreds of tomato, sweet basil, zucchini, yellow squash, green beans, cucumber plants and more. Proceeds will support the efforts of the Center for Creative &Humanitarian Endeavors to purchase and preserve the house, which is up for sale.

Everett: Library podcast wins award

Everett historian David Dilgard and a team of librarians at Everett Public Library were recently named the winners of a statewide award for historic preservation.

A podcast tour of the city’s Evergreen Cemetery, narrated by Dilgard, will receive the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation’s 2009 State Historic Preservation Officer’s Award for outstanding achievement in historic preservation at a ceremony in Olympia on May 5.

The podcast, released on Halloween last year, is the most popular one on the library’s Web site. Photos, a map and audio of the tour are available at www.epls.org/podcast.

Mill Creek: Book sale helps library programs

Books of all sorts will be on sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Friends of the Mill Creek Library spring book sale. A special half-price sale will be from 2-3 p.m. Large print books and many media materials will be available. All proceeds go to funding Mill Creek Library programs, furnishings, and literacy grants. The library is located at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway in Mill Creek.

Mukilteo: Library hosts Spring Tea

The first-ever Spring Tea is scheduled to be hosted by the Friends of the Mukilteo Library at 2 p.m. Monday. Fancy shoes and hats are encouraged. The library is located at 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. in Mukilteo.
