Kiwanis hold food drive in Lynnwood
The Kiwanis Club of Lynnwood collected 240 pounds of food and almost $70 at a food drive for the Lynnwood Food Bank.
On the same day, youth and volunteers from Maplewood Presbyterian Church collected 234 pounds of food for the food bank and almost $400 for World Vision at a food drive at an area Albertsons.
This food drive was part of a larger program called 30-Hour Famine. Participants agreed to go 30 hours without food to raise money and awareness of world hunger.
Everett girl honored for hygiene song
Breannah Kanaly of Everett is a runner-up in a song-and-poetry contest about hand hygiene.
Seattle Children’s Hospital asked patients to write about hand hygiene and submit their work.
Winning selections were recorded and will be played on hand sanitizer dispensers at various locations.
Breannah, 11, won with her song, “The Other Day I Was Sittin’ in the Hospital.”
