Bring your own olives: A Spokane distillery has found an effective enticement when it needs volunteers to help it with bottling and packing its products: a free lunch and three or four shots of gin or vodka.

Next door, Bob’s Brussels Sprouts and Broccoli has had more difficulty in getting volunteers to work its packing line.

It’s the real thing: Several German states have told retailers to pull cans of Red Bull Cola off the shelves because tests found trace amounts of cocaine in the energy drinks. Red Bull protested, saying that its cola, flavored with an extract of the coca leaf, is “harmless and marketable.”

Red Bull also advises that customers should drink its cola like any other soda and not snort it through a rolled-up $20 bill.

Winner by a hair: Anchorage, Alaska, was the host city for the World Beard and Moustache Championships this weekend. Trophies were awarded in 17 categories for mustaches, partial beards and full beards.

But even with nearly 300 competitors in the event, The Buzz is certain that, unlike with other beauty pageants, none of the competitors will be called to answer for photos of themselves posing half-naked in lingerie.
