Mariners option Morrow to Tacoma; acquire infielder Hannahan from A’s

SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners optioned pitcher Brandon Morrow to Class AAA Tacoma on Saturday.

Morrow is 0-4 with a 5.28 earned run average in 22 appearances (6 starts).

He started and was charged with the loss in Friday night’s 6-4 defeat to the Texas Rangers. He allowed six hits and four runs in five innings.

In six starts Morrow is 0-1 with a 4.55 ERA with 27 strikeouts, 17 walks and six home runs allowed.

The Mariners acquired infielder Jack Hannahan from the Oakland A’s on Saturday in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Justin Souza.

Hannahan hit .193 with one homer and eight RBIs in 52 games with Oakland before being demoted to Class AAA Sacramento.

Hannahan, 29, takes Morrow’s roster spot and will be in uniform for tonight’s game against the Rangers

Souza, 6-6 with a 3.35 ERA in 20 games with Class AAA West Tenn, will join the Athletics’ Midland Class AA team
