EVERETT — Threats at a home barbecue in early July led police to arrest an alleged white supremacist who police believe threatened a man who is an American Indian.

The incident began in the early hours of July 12 at a party in Everett, according to a report filed Thursday in Everett District Court.

Included among the guests was a Sultan man, 33. The hosts told police they knew the man had a reputation for being a “hard-core white supremacist” but didn’t think there would be problems because they considered the man a friend, the court document said.

When one of the hosts said he was part American Indian, the other man became hostile, started shouting names, pushed the man to the ground and threatened to come back and shoot him dead, the document said.

Police were called. Snohomish County deputies served an arrest warrant at the suspect’s Sultan home early Thursday morning.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a failure-to-appear warrant and for investigation of malicious harassment, the state’s hate crime law.
