Measuring for the curtains? Boeing has applied for permits for its new plant in South Carolina that would allow it to place a second 787 line there. But a Boeing spokesman said no decision has been made. “Understand this is a procedural step. It certainly recognizes Charleston is a candidate as is Everett, Wash.,” a Boeing spokesman said.
Optimists hopeful the second line will be built here will note that a Boeing spokesman correctly located Everett in Washington state.

Fore! Gone? Pro golfers make their annual stop in Washington state today for the Boeing Classic at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge.
Should Boeing choose Charleston over Everett, we bet there’s a tractor pull aching to add “Boeing Classic” to its name.

Animal Planet, maybe? Guests at a New York high-rise hotel might want to draw the shades when involved in amorous activities. Some appear unaware that a new park, built on an abandoned elevated rail line, offers prime views into the rooms through the hotel’s floor-to-ceiling windows. One passerby compared the action to “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.”
We’re not sure what he saw, but we hope it didn’t involve nets, tranquilizer guns and alligators.
