You know to bring an empty stomach and a full wallet to A Taste of Edmonds, which opens its gates at the Civic Playfield in downtown Edmonds Friday, Aug. 14, but you’ll also want a good pair of dancing shoes to keep up with the festival’s three performance stages.
The Main Stage is packed full of entertainment, beginning at 11 a.m. with steel druum group Bakra Bata, and followed by classical jazz guitarist Scott Lindenmuth, a real live “School of Rock” band, rockabilly-alt country-roots rockers The Angels of Sin, a reunion of “Ballroom Blitz” and “Love is Like Oxygen” chart toppers The Sweet, Three Dog Night tribute group Shambala and the closing ceremony at 10 p.m. with emcee Aaron Stadler.
Pop duo Funk Mason kicks off Saturday’s schedule, followed by the alt-pop rock sound of Agnes Ingarra, then Neil Diamond tribute band Cherry Cherry.
At 4 p.m. cheer on Edmonds top talent from the “Edmonds Idol” contest, then stay for legendary Northwest musicians No Rules w/ Jim Brady &Randy Hiatt as they play classic rock and R&B. Edmonds All-Stars &Delivery Boys close out the evening.
The Seattle Shores Chorus opens Sunday’s schedule, followed by country gospel group The Dreyer Brothers, then classic R&B and Top 40 hits fromDysfunksion. Swing Set takes the stage with high energy retro-modern swing, then national A Cappella champs The Coats close the festival.
For those 21 and older, the Beer Garden Stage opens at 11 a.m. all three days with non-stop music and performances. Friday’s schedule starts with Jimmy Vegas and the sounds of all things Jimmy Buffett, followed by Celtic band Tillers Folly. Scotts Landing brings bluegrass to the stage, a la Hillbilly Hiway, then acoustic duo The Stickmen performs. Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band Whiskey Creek comes up during dinner hour, followed by dance bands Dance Factory and The Beatniks. Jimmy Vegas closes out the evening with a 10 p.m. show.
Saturday’s Beer Garden stage schedule includes Elvis impersonator Shane Cobane, steel drum band The Islanders, Woodstock pop from the Delivery Boys, Alice in Chains tribute &original sounds from Rane Stone &Dead Roots Revival, 70s dance msuci with Hit Explosion, followed by rock, hip hop, funk and “Baby’s Got Back” from Outtasite with Sir Mix A Lot and classic rockers Magic Bus. Emcee Jimmy Vegas once again rounds out the evening.
Sunday’s line-up features classic rock, funk and country with Bubbles &Fog, “young country” and rock from Country Rock Association, followed by classic and pop rock by The PopOffs, disco revivalists the Afrodisiacs, 80s party music band the Spazmatics, and a farewell from emcee Jimmy Vegas at 7 p.m.
The Kids Stage opens at 11:30 a.m. Friday with Buck &Elizabeth, followed by Tim Noah, a “Wonderland Tea Party,” the Aussie Outback Show, and Kids Karaoke. On Saturday, start the day with Buck &Elizabeth again, then The Little Gym of Kenmore presents gymnastics for kids, followed by the singing and dancing students of the Applause Studio’s Performance Team. Buck &Elizabeth return at 2 p.m., then presentations by Cascade Elite Gymnastics and Seattle Tae Kwon Do. The Aussie Outback Show makes a return appearance, followed by more Kids Karaoke. Buck &Elizabeth get things started
Sunday and are followed by Aussie Outback Show, Reptile Man and legendary Northwest children’s entertainer JP Patches. Master Pierces Tae Kwon Do presents a Martial Arts Exhibition, then Buck &Elizabeth take the stage before and after the Edmonds Jr. Idol Contest.
