MT. VERNON — The Everett doubles team of Brendan Soelling and Dan Snyder captured the 3A District 1 championship and the district’s No. 1 seed to next spring’s state meet with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Meadowdale’s Scott Bohmke and Grant Lovell Wednesday.

“The key to their success was Brendan’s quickness and his hard topspin groundstrokes and Dan’s consistent net play and sharp overheads,” said Everett coach Tim Boyd. “They were able to keep the pressure and control the flow of the game which helped keep them in every point. They really showed alot of maturity and composure when things got tough. Although the goal was first place, they knew they had to focus on each match with the same intensity and motivation as the next. Their ability to stay focused, and play in the moment, helped provide the groundwork for an outstanding tournament.”

Dylan Mozlowski of Glacier Peak won the singles title with a win over Shorecrest’s Devin Abney, who took the second seed to state with a 6-3, 7-5 win over teammate Jason Hollenbeck-Landraitis in the second-place match.
