You’re on Candid Cat Camera: In an attempt to learn what cats do all day when we’re not around, the makers of Friskies cat food attached cameras to the collars of 50 cats, collecting 777 images. About 6 percent of the cats’ time was spent sleeping and 22 percent was spent looking out windows.

The study was silent regarding how much time cats spent licking their butts.

  • Don’t bite the bed bugs: A Tennessee woman has invented a device that can show whether a homeowner has an infestation of bed bugs. Her invention uses a dog bowl coated with talcum powder that captures the pests if they are present.

If you’re interested, the cat has photos on her Facebook page of the dog mistakenly drinking from the bowl.

  • Turn left on Ash: If you’d like to view the streets of Italy’s Pompeii, which was buried in volcanic ash by Mount Vesuvius about 2,000 years ago, you can now do so without leaving home. Google has added Pompeii to its collection of Street View images, which allow computer users to see 360-degree views of the ancient city, including its avenues, villas and temples.

But the perspective may appear a little low to the ground. To save money, Google hired stray cats in Pompeii to take the pictures.
