Arlington: Learn about Relay for Life
Arlington Relay for Life organizers have scheduled an open house for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. People can sign up and learn about the American Cancer Society. The relay is June 4 and 5 at Larson Stadium, Arlington High School.

Friends of the Library need more members
Friends of the Arlington Library group seeks more members to help raise the money needed to present special programs at the library for children, teens and adults. The group meets at 3:30 p.m. today at the library, 135 N. Washington Ave.

Marysville: Defensive driving class coming
A two-day defensive driving course for people 55 and over is planned for Feb. 10 and 11 in Marysville. The AARP class is scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. both days at the Ken Baxter Senior-Community Center, 514 Delta Ave. Cost is $12 for current AARP members and $14 for nonmembers.

City solicits bands for summer concert gigs
The city of Marysville is seeking musical talent for its annual Sounds of Summer Concert Series planned for July and August. The concerts take place at 7 p.m. Fridays at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road. Musicians and singers may mail a press kit and demo CD to Marysville Parks and Recreation, Attn.: Maryke Burgess, 6915 Armar Road, Marysville, WA 98270.

Stanwood: Driver safety class Saturday
An AARP driver safety class is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Stanwood Senior and Community Center, 7430 276th St. NW. This one-day, eight-hour class for adults age 50 and older emphasizes defensive driving techniques. A $14 fee is charged to cover the cost of materials. AARP members receive a $2 discount when presenting their membership number at the time of registration. Some insurance carriers offer discounts on auto insurance for those who complete the course.

Mayor’s State of City address is Thursday
Mayor Dianne White plans to present her annual State of the City address at the Stanwood Chamber of Commerce general meeting, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood-Camano School District Administration Building, 26920 Pioneer Highway.
