EDMONDS — Thanks to a big first quarter and some sharp shooting from behind the 3-point line, Edmonds-Woodway rolled to a 78-61 Wesco South girls basketball victory over Shorecrest Monday night.

Angela Woods scored 19 points and hit five 3-pointers to lead Edmonds-Woodway, which outscored Shorecrest 25-8 in the first quarter. The Warriors hit eight 3-pointers total in the game.

“They were lights out early,” Shorecrest head coach Ed Wissing said of E-W. “… We cut (into the lead) but it was too big of a deficit.”

Madeline Kasper chipped in 17 points and hit two 3-pointers for the Warriors, and Ashley Albertson chipped in 12 points, including several early offensive rebounds and putbacks.

“Kasper and Woods were hitting shots from three to four feet outside the 3-point line,” Wissing said of Edmonds-Woodway’s shooting.

Brianne Lasconia scored 21 points for Shorecrest.
