Note to potheads: Don’t fall asleep when your late night munchies are in the oven.
A Mukilteo man, 27, was cited early Friday for misdemeanor drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia after police and fire officials rushed to his home just before 3 a.m. to investigate reports of smoke.
The smoke alarm at the home in the 4800 block of Deerfield Place was sounding for more than an hour when someone called 911, according to Mukilteo police reports. A neighbor who called said a man was sleeping on a couch inside the home.
The man woke up when emergency officials arrived. He told officers he fell asleep with a pizza cooking in the oven. The burnt food set off the smoke alarm.
Officers said they found what might have made the man so sleepy: a glass water pipe and roughly an ounce of marijuana were in the living room.
