Navy names new Northwest Region commander

SILVERDALE — The Navy has assigned Rear Adm. Douglass T. Biesel as commander of Navy Region Northwest, which is headquartered at Silverdale.

He is currently serving in Guam and previously was commanding officer at the Bangor submarine base.

The change of command is anticipated for this summer.
