PREP SWIMMING ROUNDUP: Shorecrest dominates 3A meet

ANACORTES — Shorecrest positioned itself for a team championship during Friday’s prelims in the 3A District 1 boys swimming and diving championships at Fidalgo Pool.
The Scots qualified 19 swimmers and all three relays for today’s finals. Erik Ramsey (50-yard freestyle) and Carter Osborne (100 free), led the Shorecrest charge with firsts. The Scots were also first in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. They were second in the 200 freestyle relay.
Glacier Peak’s Brandon Ringstad was the top qualifier in the 500 free.
2A District 1 meet: At Anacortes, Alec Barnard of Archbishop Murphy qualified first in the 200-yard freestyle. The top seven swimmers in the event all swam state meet qualifying times. He was second in the 100 butterfly, also in a state qualifying time. Murphy’s R.D. Hunter placed fourth in the 100 backstroke and teammate Taylor Froland was sixth in the 200 individual medley. The Wildcats also advanced all three relays, finishing sixth in the 200 medley relay, third in the 200 freestyle relay and second in the 400 freestyle relay.
