New Staybridge Suites in Mukilteo has meeting space, long-term stay opportunities and more

Staybridge Suites, a 134-room hotel at 9600 Harbour Place, Mukilteo, opened its doors early this year. It features all the comforts of home and caters to visitors who want to stay in the area for more than a night or two.

The hotel’s expansive services, multiple amenities, and convenient location near to Paine Field and the Everett Boeing facility make it ideal for out-of-town aerospace business executives looking to stay in the area for extended periods.

The hotel is owned by 360 Hotel Group of Lynnwood. Sharon Danitschek, vice president of sales and marketing, said in 2008 that 28,000 room nights — one person per room, per night — were filled by Boeing Co. employees who traveled to Snohomish County for work-related projects.

The hotel’s interior stands out with large open spaces designed for gathering spots. Just off the lobby, guests will find a great-room with high ceilings accented by wood beams. Large windows, widely spaced tables, cozy nooks, a large fireplace, and several small televisions mounted above peninsula tables, make this a restful, welcoming space.

“We wanted an expansive Northwest lodge feeling, so we opened it up,” Danitschek said.

The great-room is central to other home-like comforts. Nearby, the hotel serves a complimentary hot breakfast buffet daily. Guests can enjoy a swim in the indoor pool, soak in the spa, fire-up the barbecue for an outdoor meal on the patio, take in a movie in the media room, or hit some balls on the small putting green. Access to Big Gulch trail is a few steps out the door.

For mingling, an evening reception, Mon. – Thur., serves up complimentary beer, wine, sodas, and hearty snacks.

Visitors can expect to meet friendly, accommodating staff, Danitschek said. The hotel sets high standards for customer service, providing its employees ongoing training to maintain those standards. “Our guests are treated like individuals,” she said.

The five-story hotel has designed its luxuriously furnished, spacious studio, one and two-bedroom suites with the long-term guest in mind. A full-sized refrigerator, stove top, microwave, dishwasher and fully equipped kitchen in the rooms makes it easy to prepare meals. They also include a large desk, separate from the living space, and Internet access.

All rooms overlook a courtyard or green belt. Other features include a laptop-sized safe and extra storage down the hall for golf clubs, suitcases or other things, available on a first-come, first-served basis. A self-serve laundry, fitness area, and underground parking are on-site. Executives can get to and from meetings and local destinations with a complimentary shuttle van that serves a 15-mile radius.

Room rates are $139 for a studio, $159 for a one-bedroom and $189 for a two-bedroom. Danitschek notes that these rates are inexpensive considering they include a complimentary hot breakfast and evening social, which offers substantial snacks (think pizza) that some might consider dinner.

“We will be extremely successful in attracting travelers who are looking to stretch their dollars,” she said.

Two meeting spaces are available for the community to rent. One large conference room can accommodate 100 people for a meeting or social gathering. A smaller boardroom seats 10 — 12 people. Outside catering is available.

“Meeting space rates vary based on the room selected and length of time it’s required,” Danitschek said.

Staybridge Suites can also accommodate other long-term visitors, such as people relocating to the area. The ample-sized guest rooms and large, comfortable public spaces make it ideal for groups traveling to the area for family reunions or weddings. The two-bedroom suites, which sleep six people comfortably, can be inexpensive when sharing and splitting the costs with others, Danitschek noted.

The hotel also is supportive of the Mukilteo community.

“It is important to us to be a part of the community where we have a presence,” Danitschek said. Through sponsorship, they have supported local events such as the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival and the YMCA golf tournament.
