MARYSVILLE — Fire destroyed an abandoned home this morning in Marysville.
A passerby called 911 just after 5 a.m. to report a “huge fire” in the area of 116th Street NE and State Avenue, Marysville Fire District spokeswoman Kristen Thornstenson said.
Firefighters arrived to find the house engulfed in flames, she said.
No one was hurt.
While crews believed the house to be unoccupied, the area also is known to be a transient camp, Thornstenson said.
Officials are investigating the cause of the blaze. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.
Abandoned structures can be more than an eye sore, Thornstenson said. They can be a nuisance and a safety hazard and should be boarded up and secured.
More than two dozen firefighters battled the morning blaze. Crews from Getchell Fire helped Marysville.
