MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Tough greens and compromising weather will leave most golfers shaking their heads.
But the Kamiak boys golf squad had an impressive showing Thursday, with Mark Strickland shooting one-under par 34 and Brandon Hill and Mason Tomlinson one-over to lead Kamiak to a victory on the back nine holes of Nile Golf Club in Mountlake Terrace.
Kamiak finished at 180, Edmonds-Woodway 197 and Mariner 285.
“Mark made some great shots,” Edmonds-Woodway coach Tom Davis said of the Western Washington University golf recruit. “He just had some great approach shots. If you don’t hit it close, you are in trouble.”
Davis added that the greens were not quite in shape, and made for a tough day of putting.
“Anyone that is shooting under 40 is doing really well, the greens are tough,” Davis added.
