The Buzz abides

Come and knock on our door: A robbery of 12 pounds of marijuana is focusing attention on an apparent medical marijuana dispensary in Smokey Point. The pot was destined for Elevated Medical Treatment, which on its website advertises its weed with tasting notes.

These days, a full-service medical pot dispensary has to offer more than just a couple of tasting notes. So allow us to elaborate: “Purple rhino,” a sweet, strong-smelling Indica hybrid, would pair well with Hot Pockets, Cool Ranch Doritos and a 2-liter Mountain Dew and is best enjoyed with friends watching a “Three’s Company” marathon on TV Land.

  • Aw, Andy: Kure Beach, N.C., has banned thong swimwear on its beaches to preserve its reputation as “Mayberry with a beach,” a reference to the 1960s TV series, “The Andy Griffith Show.”

It’s probably a good plan. We’d rather not see Aunt Bea or Barney Fife in a thong.

  • Oh, barnacles: A 12-year-old girl who saved a friend from choking on gum credited a “SpongeBob SquarePants” episode with showing her how to perform the Heimlich maneuver.

The girl said she was a little disappointed her friend didn’t make a funny cartoon “sproing” sound when she coughed up the gum.
