MUKILTEO — A recent graduate of Kamiak High School is under investigation after he posted a Facebook page message threatening to shoot students.
The high school is in a modified lockdown today as a precaution, Mukilteo School District spokesman Andy Muntz said.
“We essentially take threats like this very seriously,” he said.
Whether the former student meant the comment — “I’m pulling a Virgina Tech on Kamiak” — as a prank or innocent comment isn’t yet clear.
“We don’t take it that way,” Muntz said.
Mukilteo police are investigating the posting, an apparent reference to the April 2007 shooting that killed 32 people on the campus of Virginia Tech University.
Extra security is posted at the school and parent volunteers are helping keep close watch on students, Muntz said.
