PREP ROUNDUP: Jackson posts key soccer win

MUKILTEO — Jackson earned a decisive 2-0 boys soccer win Friday night over Kamiak, scoring goals in each half to pull ahead of Kamiak for second place in the Wesco South.

The clinched a 4A District 1 playoff berth for Jackson (5-2 in league, 10-4 overall).

In the 38th minute, Mason Legault (Tye Hastings assist) scored for the Timberwolves, with Brian Lafavour scoring unassisted in the 55th minute. The two goals combined with the shutout from goalie Hayden Addington put a half-game cushion between the two 4A schools vying for the top 4A berth from the Wesco South.

Shorecrest 4, Shorewood 1: At Shoreline, Shorecrest’s Eli Blauser had two goals and an assist, keeping the Scots undefeated at 7-0 league, 14-0 overall.

Glacier Peak 3, Mariner 0: At Snohomish, Shane Miller scored twice and Kyle Bjornethun scored unassisted to keep Glacier Peak (5-2 league, 10-4 overall) tied with Jackson for second place in the Wesco South. GP’s Andrew Weakly earned the shutout in goal.

Edmonds-Woodway 3, Lynnwood 1: At Bothell, Lynnwood scored in the 45th minute of the Wesco South game on a goal by Momodau Drammeh.

Mountlake Terrace 3, Meadowdale 2 OT: At Edmonds, Terrace’s Mesfin Gebremeskel scored in the 89th minute to give the Hawks the Wesco South overtime win. Manix Alvarez tied the game at 2-2 for the Hawks (2-5 league, 3-11 overall) in the 76th minute with an unassisted goal.

Archbishop Murphy 2, South Whidbey 0: At Shoreline, senior goalie Doug Ehlebracht got his sixth shutout in a row, bringing his season total to nine in the Wildcat’s (10-3 league, 10-4 overall) Cascade Conference win. Senior co-captain Erik Schmidt scored on senior co-captain Matt Leen’s assist in the 20th minute.

King’s 5, Granite Falls 0: At Granite Falls, goalkeepers Matt Matysak and Paul Lutgen combined for the Cascade Conference shutout for King’s (11-2 league, 11-2 overall). Nick Swanson, Evan Sabo, Trevor Bartels, Isaac Nielsen and Jacob Hauser each scored for King’s.
