Bus, DART fares change June 1
Fares on Community Transit local bus and Dial-A-Ride Transportation paratransit service will increase 25 cents Tuesday, June 1. Bus service on Memorial Day, May 31, will be on Sunday schedule and will be the last major holiday of Community Transit bus service.
Starting June 1, CT fares will be:
• Local bus: Adults $1.75, youth $1.25, seniors/disabled/Medicare 75 cents
• Dial-Ride Transportation paratransit: $1.75 all ages
Riders who use an ORCA card are urged to update their monthly pass denomination for June, and make sure to accommodate for the fare increase in E-purse accounts.
ORCA users with an autoload pass must cancel their autoload feature, buy a new pass with appropriate fare value, then create a new autoload after the new pass has been used. Questions about ORCA can be answered at 1-888-988-6722.

Spaghetti feed honors doctor, raises funds
To commemorate Dr. Jeff Schlameus and his 30-year career as a family medicine physician in Edmonds, a spaghetti feed will be held at Stevens Hospital to benefit mantle cell lymphoma research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The feed is scheduled from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 27 at Stevens Hospital, 21601 76th Ave. W, Edmonds. A $5 donation is suggested.

Air group receives award
The Puget Sound Regional Aviation Group, made up of aviation units from King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, along with Washington State Patrol, has been recognized for the “Outstanding Regional Partnership” award for 2010. This is the first year for the national awards presented by the Urban Area Security Initiative program, administered by the Department of Homeland Security.
Edmonds Waterfront festival
The 23rd annual Edmonds Rotary Waterfront festival will be held June 4-6 at the Port of Edmonds Marina. Hours are Friday 3 to 10 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be children’s activities, a family stage, beer stage, classic yachts to tour and a 5k run. The public sling launch will be closed to boaters June 2-6.

Dental Day of Caring
Dr. Michael Hrankowski is offering free treatment to those who cannot afford regular dental care during an annual Day of Caring on Saturday, June 12. Free dental service will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Edmonds Woodway Dental Care, 21810 76th Ave. W, Suite 102, Edmonds.
Treatment will be offered on a first come, first served basis, limited to procedures that can be accomplished in one appointment, including cleanings, extractions and fillings, with a limit of one procedure per person.

Executive changes
Erin Haldi has joined SMG as catering manager at the Lynnwood Convention Center.
She attended the University Nevada Las Vegas and graduated with a degree in Hotel Management. Before joining SMG, she was the operations/banquet manager for the Dragon Ridge Country Club in Henderson, Nev.

• With the help of a recent grant from the state Department of Ecology, Snohomish Conservation District staff can work with residents in the Swamp Creek/Scriber Creek watersheds on projects involving eroded stream banks, sustainable yard and garden practices and naturescaping a stream or pond.
