STANWOOD — The Stanwood Area Historical Society has an extensive photo collection, and parts of it are continuously displayed at the society’s museum.

Included now are the Stanwood High School Class Picture Gallery and schoolhouse photographs, some of the views of east Stanwood and the story of the Stanwood waterfront.

Online at www.sahs-fncc.org, one can find a virtual exhibit of the Cama Beach historical photograph collection, which focuses on early resorts in the area.

The story of berries and dairies and the history of agriculture in the area also is a current exhibit at the historical society. Included are photographs of local farms and agricultural businesses that sustained the local community.

A special program Thursday evening takes a look at the barns of the Stillaguamish Valley and Camano Island.

Photographer Gerald Magelssen plans to show photographs and slides of more than 50 island barns, many of which are no longer standing.

Magelssen grew up on a farm on Camano Island and he worked in many of the barns he has photographed.

Magelssen also has many photographs of barns in the Stanwood, Silvana and Arlington areas.
