Fathers know best

Fathers know best: We’ve got the rundown on the good dads and bad dads that have been portrayed through the years on television. On the good side: Ward Cleaver, Cliff Huxtable and Ben Cartwright. On the bad side: Archie Bunker, Don Draper and Homer Simpson.

OK. So maybe Ward Cleaver from “Leave it to Beaver” is a better dad than Homer Simpson, but Ward would never invite Beaver to “pull my finger.”

Gonna need a bigger closet: The author of a men’s guide to dressing suggests that guys need to own more than a pair of sneakers and a pair of oxfords for work. Add to the list a boot, a rugged weekend shoe and a sandal.

Just one more question: With the sandals, do we wear white socks or dark socks?

Must love Macs: A new dating website offers to connect those among us who are fans of Apple’s iPhones, iMacs and iPads. Cupidtino, with 16,000 registered members, was founded by a former Microsoft employee who had a fight with his girlfriend over his use of an iPad during dinner.

Members are allowed to date freely, but any engagements to marry must be submitted for Apple’s approval through the same channels used to approve iPhone apps.
