The next Oprah?

A Mountlake Terrace woman has auditioned for a talk show on OWN, Oprah Winfrey’s new television network .

In addition to the show, the winner will have his or her weight fluctuations and diet heartbreaks chronicled weekly in at least two supermarket tabloids.

Pull harder: More than 1,000 rowers will converge on Lake Stevens this weekend for a regional rowing tournament . The Lake Stevens Rowing Club will host the event.

The tournament is expected to bring plenty of extra business to area restaurants and hotels, while also making Lake Stevens a quieter place because all those rowers will crowd out a portion of the lake’s Jet Ski fleet.

Walk this way: Scientists have found evidence that humans’ ancestors were walking upright 3.6 million years ago. The discovery confirms that elongation of human legs came much earlier than previously thought.

Scientists know exactly when the average human’s walking ability began to wither: the early 1920s, when Henry Ford dropped the price of the Model T to $290.
