Published 3:42 pm Wednesday, July 28, 2010

The WHL announced everyone’s home openers earlier in the offseason, but the date has changed for the Tips following yesterday’s Western Conference scheduling meeting. Originally Everett’s opener was going to be on Saturday, Sept. 25 against Vancouver. But now the Tips open at home on Friday, Sept. 24 against Seattle.

The rest of the tentative schedule is expected to be released later today.

—- UPDATE, 3:35 p.m.

OK, here’s the tentative schedule for the upcoming season. Some highlights:

– The season opener is on Sept. 24 at home against Seattle.

– The first eight games are all at home.

– It’s a busy November with 14 games in 26 days, including three straight three-in-threes. Byron Froese returns to Everett with the Red Deer Rebels on Nov. 9.

– The eastern swing comes later than usual this season as the trip through the East Division takes place Dec. 3-11. The roads may be a little rougher for this one.

– Nine days off for the Christmas break.

– The Tips go an extra step in ringing in the new year this year. Everett hosts Vancouver on New Year’s Eve, then hosts Tri-City on New Year’s Day.

– The Prince George trip is Feb. 18-19.

– The final home game is really early this season, coming the penultimate weekend of the season on Mar. 12 vs. Portland (Portland plays in Everett both Friday and Saturday that weekend). The Tips then end the season with four road games, finishing up on Mar. 20 at Vancouver.
