Farewell, fair

And a Pepto chaser: Today’s the final day of the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, with discounts on tickets for all, a 4-H musical dog performance team at noon, barrel races from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Baby Diaper Derby at 2:45 p.m.
Consider this the last call to prepare for winter hibernation by packing on one last round of carbohydrates from corn dogs, curly fries and a final Purple Cow.
Goo-Google, ga ga: If you’re new to parenting, consider yourself lucky that a wealth of helpful websites are just a few clicks away. We’ve got a list of websites, such as babycenter.com, that can easily answer questions on kids’ health and more.
You’ve got it way easier than your folks did. Imagine having to thumb through a copy of Dr. Spock’s book on baby and child care to find out what to do when your kid shoves a peanut up his nose.
As you sow, so shall you reap: It’s harvest time for local vegetable gardeners, which means many of us are having to find a way to use a bumper crop of zucchini. Forum Writer-Upper Judyrae Kruse offers recipes for zucchini relish and zucchini jam that should take care of a few pounds of the squash.
Or you could do what we do: Wait for dark and hope that your neighbors have left their car doors unlocked.
