North Middle School was open today, but closed yesterday because of smoke and soot, according to Carolyn Meagher of the Everett School District.
People who lived near Sunset Falls on the Skykomish River broke into applause when Snohomish County PUD officials told them they no longer were interested in building a $77 million hydroelectric project close to their homes. Dr. Monty Nixon, vice president of Mount Index River Sites Homeowners Association, said members were gratified and relieved.
