Behold: The power of cheese

The string cheese incident: Harley Davidson Ironwing, the less-than-fleet-footed criminal companion of former globe-trotting fugitive Colton Harris-Moore, was sentenced to a year and a half in prison for a shoplifting and assault that started with Ironwing stuffing string cheese in his pants.

Harris-Moore, who Ironwing claims to have instructed in the art of home burglary, might want to skip his pal’s next seminar on thievery.

Four ‘Pokes’ up: Herald film critic Robert Horton reviews “The Social Network,” which follows the creation of Facebook and the lawsuits that ensued. The film’s creators include “Zodiac” director David Fincher and “West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin.

Both are said to already be at work on a sequel, “The Social Network II: Attack of the FarmVille Friend Requests.”

Can you hear me now? The Senate unanimously passed a bill Thursday that would require television stations and cable systems to keep the volume of advertising at the same level as programming. The House has already passed similar legislation.

But the bills won’t be reconciled and sent to the president until Congress returns to Washington after the Nov. 2 election. And after their last campaign ads have run.
