Everett vs. Portland: lineup notes

Published 6:27 pm Wednesday, October 6, 2010

EVERETT

Forward lines:

Maxwell-Ferraro-Tochkin

Winquist-Birkholz-MacDonald

Elynuik-McGrath-McCrea

Erricson-Hayer-Fowlie

Defensive pairings:

Murray- Suer

Rissanen-Yadlowski

Walters-Theriau

Starting goalie:

Simpson

Scratches: Morden, Giebel, Huhtala, Cumiskey, Sohor.

Notes: The big news for the Tips is that defenseman Brennan Yadlowski, acquired Tuesday from Lethbridge, makes his Everett debut tonight. Yadlowski drove from Lethbridge to his home in Edmonton on Thursday, then flew into town today. Center Clayton Cumiskey remains sidelined with his upper-body injury. One other change from Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Lethbridge as defenseman Nick Walters is restored at the expense of Evan Morden.

PORTLAND

Forward lines:

Ross-Johansen-Gabriel

Boychuk-Bennett-Swenson

Bartschi-Burns-Rattie

Peters-Leipsic-Jordan

Defensive pairings:

Ponich-Rutkowski

Wotherspoon/Robidoux-Aronson

Pouliot-Hanson

Starting goalie:

Hamilton

Scratches: Morrow, Niederreiter, Kopitar, Trott, Curtis.

Notes: Star winger Nino Niederreiter officially made the New York Islanders’ opening-night roster, so there’s a real chance he won’t be returning to Portland this season. Goaltender Ian Curtis (shoulder) and defenseman Joe Morrow (unknown) are out injured, while defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon (also unknown) will be a game-time decision, with Stephane Robidoux the designated replacement. Keith Hamilton makes his sixth straight start in goal for the Winterhawks as Mac Carruth (hamstring) apparently is healthy enough to back up, but not recovered enough for starter’s minutes.
