GRANITE FALLS — Despite dropping the first set, Lakewood rallied past Granite Falls for a four set Cascade Conference volleyball win Thursday by scores of 17-25, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-12.

With the win Lakewood improved their conference and overall record to 8-3 while clinching a 2A District 1 playoff spot.

Hayley Liebel had 15 kills and Brittany Parmentier added 14 to lead the Cougars to victory. Junior setter Samantha Adams provided 28 assists.

“We played really well the first match. We were able to hit well and found the open spots on the floor,” Granite Falls head coach Mark Neuman said. “But after that they really just took control for the night. We started making errors and our passing wasn’t quite where we wanted to be and Lakewood took advantage.”

“They executed a lot better and were able to put the ball away,” Neuman added.

Monesa Moore had 11 kills and two blocks for the Tigers while senior teammate Ericka Smith added 10 kills and four aces.
