MILL CREEK — A week ago, Jackson was the better volleyball team. It still is.

After losing to Jackson (5-1 league, 10-1 overall) last Tuesday, the Kamiak Knights had a week to prepare for their rematch with the Timberwolves. The added intensity was evident in Game 1 but the Knights couldn’t sustain their momentum as the Timberwolves earned a Wesco South win by scores of 16-25, 27-25, 25-19 and 25-16.

Jackson was led by sophomore Emmy Allen, who slammed 18 kills, while senior Malisa Marasigan had 18 digs and Leigh-Ann Haataja added 14 kills.

“The first game I think they were getting used to the new lineup as we had a starter out sick,” Jackson head coach Ashley Allen said. “In the second game, their intensity went up insane amounts. It was like a different team out there.”

Bryce Larson had 14 kills and 24 digs for the Knights while teammate Priya Hazari contributed 10 kills. Ally Bowles added 27 assists as Kamiak fell to 3-2, 7-4.

The biggest key for Jackson in coming back from the 1-0 deficit was their serving and overall consistency. They stopped making errors and instead finished points off when the opportunities were presented according to their coach.

“Tonight was really a team win,” Allen added. “We had a lot of girls coming off the bench that really helped out. I think that was the biggest difference (between the two teams).”
