MONROE — Monroe staved off Lake Stevens in the Wesco North battle. Monroe’s Alyssa Drew broke a scoreless game in the 72nd minute, half-volleying a shot past Lake Steven’s goalie Kiaya Paulsen, who punched out the ball moments before Drew’s shot. Dani Philippart had the shutout for Monroe (7-6 league, 8-6 overall). Monroe had nine shots on goal, and Lake Stevens (8-5, 9-5) had seven.
