North vs. South in the Pac-12

The Pac-10-soon-to-be-12 Conference announced it will realign into two divisions for football next season after Utah and Colorado join up. The Washington, Oregon and Bay Area schools will make up one division, with the rest of the schools in the other.
Despite the protests of numerous schools, they were told they only get to play against Washington State once each year.
Dunking on players: NBA commissioner David Stern says the league wants to reduce the amount it pays players by more than $700 million next year.
If one were bitter, one would take some satisfaction that the league has struggled since the Sonics left Seattle. But it’ll be sad if basketball players make less money. Just think how devastating it will be to the bling industry.
Working overtime: A former Monroe corrections officer was arrested for allegedly having sex with an inmate while she was on duty.
It’s uncertain how long this has been going on, but prison officials might have become suspicious when the inmate’s cellmate asked for earplugs and a curtain.
